KUALA LUMPUR (June 16): Independent power producer Edra Power Holdings Sdn Bhd is partnering with TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd (TNB Genco), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), to spearhead its power generation business.
In a statement on Friday (June 16), Edra said the technical collaboration is intended for the two companies to share technical information and spare parts pooling for the operations and maintenance of the 9HA.02 gas turbine technology.
“Edra and TNB Genco will work closely with the aim to improve the reliability and availability of the existing 9HA.02 gas turbines installed at Edra Melaka Power Plant (EMPP) and Sultan Ibrahim Power Plant (SIPP) respectively,” the company said.
Fully operated and maintained by their respective parent company, both EMPP and SIPP are featured with the latest and most technologically advanced 9HA.02 gas turbines developed by General Electric.
“We hope that this partnership will lead to a stronger, greener and more efficient power supply system, contributing positively in Malaysia’s decarbonisation journey to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050,” said Edra president and executive director Zhong Xianjue.
He added that by working together, it is expected to enlarge the business footprint of both companies in the fast-growing power generation market.
