Edra Power Holdings Sdn Bhd, an independent power producer, has formed a partnership with Tenaga Nasional Bhd’s (TNB) unit to drive its power generation business, the company announced on Friday (June 16).
The collaboration aims to facilitate the sharing of technical information and spare parts pooling for the operations and maintenance of the 9HA.02 gas turbine technology.
Both EMPP and SIPP are fully operated and maintained by their respective parent companies and feature the latest and most technologically advanced 9HA.02 gas turbines developed by General Electric.
“Edra and TNB Genco will work closely with the aim to improve the reliability and availability of the existing 9HA.02 gas turbines installed at Edra Melaka Power Plant (EMPP) and Sultan Ibrahim Power Plant (SIPP) respectively,” stated the company.
“We hope that this partnership will lead to a stronger, greener, and more efficient power supply system, contributing positively to Malaysia’s decarbonisation journey to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050,” expressed Edra President and Executive Director Zhong Xianjue.
He further added that the collaboration is expected to expand the business footprint of both companies in the fast-growing power generation market.
